Learning Tae kwan do

A 2000 year old Korean sport

Red Dawn Martial Arts

Theo and Jaco with Leon
In August 1998 we decided the boys should take part in some sort of sport, and preferably something that they can do for the rest of their lives, something where they compete more against themselves than against others, and if it was something that would help discipline and concentration along, so much the better!

We felt Taekwando would be the ideal thing. We checked out a few clubs, and settled on Red Dawn Martial Arts, under mr. Leon van Lubeek. This particular club has been in Brampton for more than 10 years and Leon just opened another club in nearby Georgetown.

At this club, children from as young as 4 years can start training. There are adult classes as well, and members may use the gym next door.

On the next few pages, you will read more about the history of Tae kwan do, see three video clips, get an earful with some animations, and have fun with the boys!
